About Me
Family life never runs smooth. Whether big or little disasters happen, quick thinking is the key. A strange thing happened with my family. Nine years ago we moved to a housing complex which is only one door away from a hospital. Since then we have only used the Emergency facilities once!

Keep ice packs in the freezer. Not as messy as ice cubes and you won't find them in empty trays

bullet

Have lots of band aids in all shapes and sizes on hand. Even if a cut doesn't need one, a kid feels better when you put one on. I even use them on bruises just to soften the blow. Buy some fancy ones for special occasions.

Popsicles are wonderful for sore throats

Use a cold steamer rather than a hot steam vaporizer. Supposed to be better for the nose and lungs.

Flush burns with cool water. Don't put greasy stuff on it.

When administering liquid medicines, use a medicine tube rather than a teaspoon or tablespoon and you won't have spills. Some drug stores include them with the prescription. (A medicine tube has a long lip on it that acts as a tongue depressor)

bullet

Keep your child's immunizations up to date. (In my part of the country, a child cannot start school until he/she has all the required shots)

bullet

Take a first aid course or read books on it.

bullet

Don't play doctor, see one if your child needs to!
